Rainy weather, cool temps and good wind has brought a good number of lake run fish into the rivers by the shop and their numbers are building. The surf guys are picking up a few on spoons and the fish are healthy this year. Coho over 6 lbs are being taken! In the rivers they are hitting streamers, jig nymphs and spinners.Solid musky/pike fishing is going on and there are a lot of people taking advantage of that.
The Salmon are here and the colors are going strong. It is a great time of year in the U.P. ad I always enjoy the transition to cold water and no bugs! We have kings, coho, browns, steelhead and some pinks available. We are focused on coho on the Superior side and kings on the Lk MI side. The king numbers are supposed to be down 75% this year, but from what I have seen the tributaries in the central U.P. have had decent numbers so far.Casting crank baits and fishing skein are producing solid numbers if your in the right spot at the right time. The coho run is underway, but we do not have huge numbers yet. We are booked solid for October, but I have some great dates in November for steelhead and coho! Give us a call to schedule a trip.
