The opener is almost here and the possibilities for stream fishing are endless when the Type 1's are open.I am sure many will spend the opening day fishing for steelhead, but good trout opportunities will exist this year. Water temps in the area are in the mid to upper 40's so the trout will be pretty active compared to past openers where temperatures were in the upper 30's.Water levels are pretty good, but many streams are running high side with the additional rain we are getting so it would be wise to do a little scouting before Saturday. The steelhead run is still going strong with a mix of fresh and spawning fish. Please keep an eye out for the spawning redds/fish and avoid getting too close. If you see active spawners leave them be and try the runs downstream of the redd. There is often a good mix of hungry resident trout and steelhead that will take a well presented fly or bait.
