We are experiencing very comfortable weather in the central UP right now with temps staying above freezing nearly everyday and no snow on the ground. We had limited ice fishing opportunities for a week or so, but with the rain and warm temps it's over. Many are still putting the boats in looking for perch, walleye and pike. I have been going after resident trout and steelhead and the fishing is still great. I visited a few different rivers this week and found the fish to be biting at all of them. The best baits were small orange glo bugs (#10), jigs tipped with waxies and spawn. I have been float fishing for the most part myself, but I am hearing positive reports from those streamer fishing. The shop is carrying live bait again and we have shiners, suckers and fatheads in the tank right now.
